Who we are...

Welcome to Yocate Farm, a vibrant and evolving project nestled in the highlands of Carazo, near Jinotepe, Nicaragua. Our journey began in late 2015 when Carolina and Mike took on the challenge of transforming an abandoned, coffee field, once overgrown with forest, into a thriving organic farm.

Initially, Yocate Farm was a part-time endeavor as we worked to clear and cultivate the land. Our goal was to create a space dedicated to growing clean, organic produce.

The global pandemic in late 2021 marked a turning point for us. With Mike still locked down in Nicaragua, we seized the opportunity to fully commit to our vision. Mike decided to close his business in Canada and focus entirely on Yocate Farm. This pivotal decision allowed us to devote ourselves to our mission of providing wholesome, high-quality food to the people of southern Nicaragua.

Our initial success came with cherry tomatoes, which quickly became a favorite for their exceptional flavor—truly some of the best in Nicaragua. Building on this success, we embarked on a journey of continuous learning and experimentation. Growing in the tropics posed unique challenges, but through self-teaching, research, and trial and error, we’ve expanded our offerings to 40 various vegetables and herbs.

Today, we take pride in our diverse range of top vegetables. Our sweet potatoes are a standout, enjoyed by our customers whether baked or as fries, hashbrowns or gnocchi. Our cucumbers are renowned for their freshness, and our cilantro has quickly become a staple in many kitchens.

At Yocate Farm, our commitment to sustainable, organic farming is at the heart of everything we do. We’re thrilled to share our produce with you and grateful for your support on this exciting journey. Thank you for being a part of our story!
